Team Mom Snack Ideas


As team mom, you are in charge of providing the half-time or post-game snacks for this week's game, but you don't know where to start.

Kids Sport Snacks

Here are some easy tips for some wholesome snack ideas!

  1. First, keep in mind that athletes need fuel especially when you consider how much energy they are expending during a game. Yet at the same time, they don't need a lot.
  2. At the beginning of the season be sure to check with all the team members and identify any food allergies.
  3. When planning for the kids' snacks, keep in mind whether the kids are playing indoor or outdoor, on a hot or a cold day, rainy or sunny day.
  4. Athletes need plenty of fluids like water or sports drinks if playing games that are longer than an hour or in the heat. As team mom, suggest to the team that each athlete bring their own drink in reusable drink containers.

Half-time Kid Snack Ideas

The purpose of half-time snacks is to provide athletes with a quick and mess-free balanced burst of fuel.

Some suggestions are:

  1. 100 calorie packs of Cheez-It Party Mix and orange wedges
  2. Keebler sandwich cookies and a half of a banana
  3. Scooby-Doo! Graham Cracker Sticks and apple slices
  4. Eggo Waffle skewers: Cut one Eggo Waffle that is cooked to package instructions in nine pieces. Then thread the waffle pieces, banana slices, peanut butter, and grapes on pretzel sticks or wooden skewers
  5. Diced watermelon or cantaloupe, pepperoni slices and Wheatables Toasted Honey Wheat crackers

Post-game Kid Snack Ideas

A post-game snack should be balanced to start refueling the body - and there is nothing wrong with it being fun, too!

  1. Rice Krispies Treats marshmallow squares and a banana
  2. Nutri-Grain Superfruit Fusion Cereal Barsand string cheese
  3. Custom made trail mix in fun bags: Gripz chocolate chip cookies, raisins, almonds & granola is one of my kids favorite combinations.
  4. Wheatables CrackersMario Fruit-Flavored snacks
  5. Mini carrots, Club Crackers, frozen yogurt sticks
