Slumber Party Cookies and Fun Activities

Recipe and Activity Ideas for a Slumber Party

With summer in full swing and our kids spending more time with their friends, this is a fabulous time to talk slumber parties! I remember my first slumber party fondly. My mom let me invite eight giggling girls to our house. We painted our nails, decorated pillowcases, told ghost stories, watched movies, ate yummy sweets and finally passed out from exhaustion as the sun came up. Ah, to be a kid again!

Slumber Party Snacks

My mom is a smart lady. She knew we were going to be grazing in the kitchen all evening so she set out a variety of snacks to keep us entertained. I suggest popcorn for the movie, and a variety of cookies and milk for the late night gab fest!

Slumber Party Recipe: Indoors S'mores

Chips Deluxe S'mores Recipe

I love a good s‘more and these, made with Chips Deluxe Rainbow Chocolate Chip cookies sandwiching an ooey gooey marshmallow are just the perfect sleepover snack.

Easy Directions for Indoors S'mores:

Cookie S'mores Recipe
  1. Place a marshmallow on one Keebler Chips Deluxe Rainbow Chocolate Chip cookie
  2. Microwave for 10 seconds
  3. Add a matching cookie on top
  4. Allow the marshmallow to cool

Crowd Pleasing Cookies

Cookies and Milk Idea

Another favorite cookie of mine is the new Fudge Stripes Dark Chocolate. Oh my! These cookies are so decadent. You’ll find all your childhood favorites and some new surprises, including JUMBO Peanut Butter Sticks  and Mint Creme Middles Chocolate Graham cookies.

Slumber Party Activity: Pillow Decorating

In addition to slumber party fare, you need slumber party activities. My favorite is letting each child decorate a pillowcase as a keepsake. You’ll need:

  • White pillowcases
  • Letter stencil
  • Fabric paint
  • Stencil brush
  • Sharpie Marker or fabric pen

Pillow Decorating Directions:

  1. Allow each child to stencil their name in the center of the pillowcase. I suggest inserting a piece of wax paper or cardboard into the pillowcase to keep the paint from bleeding.
  2. Let the pillowcases dry for a few hours and then have the kids sign a sweet note to their friends with a permanent marker.
  3. Before the kids get up the next morning, heat set the pillowcases with an iron so that their memories won’t wash away.

Simple Cereal Slumber Party Send-Off

Make sure you send the girls off the next morning with a healthy breakfast. Set up a cereal bar: a variety of whole grain cereals like Corn Flakes and Rice Krispies, plus a selection of fresh fruits and juices. It’s unlikely the girls will all wake up at once and a fun cereal bar where they can serve themselves will keep them happy and you from living in the kitchen all morning.
