My kids love to decorate for the holidays, and Halloween is certainly no exception. Sometimes it is difficult to find time to decorate between all of their extracurricular activities, but putting together a fun, decorative Halloween display doesn’t have to be a major undertaking. And, it doesn’t need to break the bank either!

When it comes to decorating for any holiday, we always “shop the house” first. I’m always surprised at how often I find items that we can repurpose to create a fun holiday spread.
For example, for the Halloween table setting we put together, the black vase is actually a wine chiller that normally sits on the kitchen counter. We added some Spanish moss and fun twigs spray-painted with black glitter paint to add some height to our display. And the cake stand is the same one that we use for birthdays year round.

We always have Rice Krispies Treats Bars around the house and for Halloween they were able to serve a dual purpose. We made them into Colossal Candy Corn, which are both a tasty treat and festive décor. The recipe calls for you to make your own Treats, but the pre-packaged version works great too - straight out of the box.
1. To start, we simply cut the bars on a diagonal.
2. Then, I tinted store bought frosting with yellow and orange dye.
3. My kids formed an assembly line to layer on the colors (yellow, orange, and white) to make Colossal Candy Corn.

We picked up the cute burlap-covered pumpkins at a discount craft store for a steal, and I love that they are versatile enough to be used for both Halloween and right through Thanksgiving. The orange tray is neutral enough to use for both holidays as well.
The final touch was some curled wire ribbon. It adds a little extra to the table and can be reused time and time again. Just wind it back up around the spool and store for next year!
We rounded out our display with Keebler Animal Crackers On-The-Go Snacks. They’re a fantastic alternative to passing out traditional candy during Trick-or-Treating. My kids love all three varieties, but I especially love the frosted ones for their creamy cookie crunch. They’re perfect with a warm drink on a cold Autumn night!
